Tips on Cleaning Up After Pets

Dogs pee indoors. It’s a part of life that can become quite a nuisance if not dealt with. If your dogs urine isn’t entirely picked up off your carpet, you can expect your dog to do it again, marking their territory. Dogs use their urine to show other dogs dominance, so it’s in their nature to pee everywhere. Of course, if your dog is spayed or neutered, they won’t pee indoors at much, but it still happens every once and awhile. Below are some tips on how to prevent your doing from peeing inside your home.

  • Neuter or spay your dog, as this will reduce the amount that the dogs pee indoors.

  • Potty train your puppy as early as possible.

  • Distinguish right from wrong. If your dog pees outside, give them a treat. If they do their business in doors, correct them immediately.

  • Confine your dog to certain areas of your home, kind of like a baby.

Properly Cleaning Urine:

Clean up the mess as soon as possible! Extraction is key.

Clean-up mix:

  • Distilled white

  • Water

  • Spray bottle

  • White cloths/towels

  • Cold water

Pour about 4 capfuls of distilled white vinegar into a spray bottle filled almost 3/4 with water and gently shake. Extract the urine with the white cloths as much as you possibly can, using a solid blotting motion. Move the cloth to a clean piece of towel when a good amount of urine is soaked up. Get as much urine out as possible with the white cloth before you start spraying. Put the spray bottle against the carpet and generously spray the stain, and allow the solution to get into the carpet pad. Let the solution sit for a minute. Now pour the cold water onto the stain spot and blot it out just like the urine.

Tips to Get Rid Of Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes: annoying little creatures that can potentially transfer deadly diseases and give you a horrible itch. These West Nile Virus carrying pests are everywhere during the Summer time, but there are ways to get rid of them. First, you have to know what attracts mosquitoes, so you can know how to get rid of them.

These bad boys can smell their targets from up to 50 meters, and it’s said that people with high cholesterol or concentration of steroids tend to attract more mosquitoes. So yeah, don’t do steroids and watch your cholesterol! But that isn’t completely definite. Mosquitoes will also approach people that produce more of certain types of acids, like lactic acid. They also approach people with plenty of perfume. In addition, they like carbon dioxide, so areas with more carbon dioxide will attract more of them. Finally, areas of greater heat will also attract more mosquitoes.

Get Rid of Mosquitoes:

  • Buy a good repellant that has an ingredient called DEET (about 23%) and it will protect you for up to 5 hours.

  • Buy citronella candles or torches, because the smell they give off deters mosquitoes.

  • Don’t wear dark or heavy clothes during the summer.

  • Get rid of standing/stagnate water in your yard.

  • Get some chemical spray for your backyard

  • Eating garlic and lemons tend to deter mosquitoes.

Save Money With These Household Tips

There are a lot of ways to save money by doing simple little things that you overlook. Here are several of those “simple little things” that you can do!

Ways to save money here and there:

  • Turn off your air conditioning when you’re at work and your kids are at school. This one is a no-brainer, but sometimes we forget or just leave it going because it’s nice to come home to a cool atmosphere.

  • Clean your filters at least once every month. When your filters are dirty, the debris can block the airflow, leading to reduced efficiency.

  • Try investing in some ceiling fans. Ceiling fans circulate the air and keep rooms quite cool. You can even try putting a fan in your attic, as it will help pull cool air into your house.

  • Install window tint on your windows to cut down the temperature in rooms that have the most sunlight hitting them. Blinds and curtains work well too.

  • You can also install dimming switches so that you only use just enough light for you to do work.

  • Unplug your electronics, such as your microwave, laptops, phone charges and so on. These generate heat, and they also bleed your energy from the outlets.

Those things aren’t so hard to do now are they? The hard part is remembering, but you can just print this blog out and slap it on your refrigerator!
