Are you moving out of your house? Then you’ll probably be doing some heavy duty cleaning of the house you’re moving out of. Restoring the house you’re moving out of to be just as clean as before you moved into it may be a long process. Make a checklist of the areas you have to clean before you leave, and also make a checklist of the things you have to clean in your new home.

Make sure you check with your landlord to see if he/she has made note of what condition the house was in to check for any specific areas you may need to restore. If you hire a cleaning service, make sure that they only do what needs to be done, and don’t do any extra services that aren’t needed. If you leave the house in good condition, your security deposit will be returned.

There are many areas of the house that may need special cleaning attention. The kitchen can become difficult to clean because it gets a lot of wear and tear due to high usage. The kitchen’s appliances, such as the exhaust fan, will also need to be thoroughly cleaned. Cooking with oil and grease is common in a kitchen, causing a layer of grease to develop on the nearby windows and walls, so make sure to look out for those pesky stains.

Another area that will probably require a significant amount of time is the bathroom(s). Bathrooms never go through a long enough period of rest time to stay clean. Tubs, toilets, showers and sinks will need to be scrubbed well with a proficient bathroom cleaner. Make sure to clean the tiles as well, and also clean and whiten the grout. The medicine cabinets will also need to be cleaned out and wiped down.

Something that goes unnoticed in cleaning a house/apartment/condo that you’re moving out of is the walls. Walls get scuffed from furniture, stained from food, beverages or oil, and get bumped into by toys and what not, so making sure the walls are clean and patched up is also important. Fill the small holes, where pictures were hung, with wall filler. If there’s a bigger hole, wall-filler works as well, but you will need to re-paint the area. Clean away scuffmarks with a light mix of scouring powder and water.

Additionally, the carpet protector can also help keep the color of your carpet last longer and not fade as quickly. It also protects the carpet from liquids, making spills easier to clean up. Think of it this way: a carpet protector works exactly how wax on a car does. Carpet protectors are very beneficial to caring for your carpets, so it’s best to at least consider using them.

A lot of the new types of carpeting are pre-treated with these carpet protectors, so it wouldn’t hurt to give your carpets an upgrade in its lifespan. Make sure to apply the carpet protector as directed. There are many carpet protectors to choose from, including green carpet protectors. Green carpet protectors would be best to use to keep your environment as healthy as possible. They work just as well as any carpet protector, and they are also safer to use than standard carpet protectors.

Even if your wallet is feeling a little thin, you can still buy quality rugs for your home. There are cheap area rugs that are everywhere if you search for them, helping you add a nice little accent to any one of the rooms in your home. Search for discounts or go to stores with only discounted items and you’ll end up finding a variety of rugs to pick and choose.

When you find a few rugs that match your style, make sure that you know where you’ll be placing the rugs and how large the spaces for the rugs are. Even before you go out the door, make sure to measure the area for the rugs to get the appropriate rug sizes. Take note of the color scheme of the room as well, making sure you choose rugs that compliment the color of the room. Snap a picture or two of the rooms you plan on upgrading with rugs. This will save you from questioning yourself when you find a rug that might work, but don’t quite remember the exact color of the room. Make sure the rugs are functional, as well as it stylishly fits your particular living space.

Remember that most rugs are made of synthetic materials, meaning they can easily be cleaned. Make sure to vacuum the rugs normally, as you would your carpets (about once a week, depending on how often people step around the room). While vacuuming, be careful not to vacuum the fringes on the ends of the rug. Every once in a while, you should also shampoo your carpet to extend its life. You can also buy padding to place underneath the rug, preventing the rug from slipping. Some rugs come with padding, so make sure to check before you purchase the rug.
